For 17 year old Cailey Collins, writing a song is a walk in the park. But for her, what makes a song isn't the physicality of hitting a few chords and rhyming words, but the emotion and experience behind its making. Pulling music from feeling is her specialty, especially when it comes to writing. With her first official EP release, she wants nothing more than to put the best of what she's created out on the table. The album begins with a strong tear-jerker, "Fireflies", in which she describes the phases of finding and losing love, and the repercussion of cutting her hair in spite of heartache. The middle of the album is a trip through angry remorse over mistakes in "Home", followed by a quick heads up to avoid those mistakes in "Troublemaker". The final song, however, may give the most important message (hence its position as title). "Simple"'s intentions are rather...simple - although it is a beautiful disaster, it's okay to not be in love.
With easy-listening beats and rhythms and some lyrics that will bring up some nostalgic tears about your high school romances, Cailey brings a new light to young heartbreak and happiness.
